Mayo shuts Caledonia clinic for now, changes hours elsewhere

Area medical centers are transferring doctors and other staff to where they’re needed most during the COVID-19 crisis. 

As a result, Mayo’s Caledonia clinic is shutting down temporarily, as of Thursday.

Some other Mayo sites — at La Crosse’s Belle Square in Prairie du Chien and Holmen — are switching to weekday hours, only for now. 

Mayo also is organizing a staff-only blood drive Friday from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., at the hospital in La Crosse. 

Mayo is reassigning staff members to more critical areas where they are needed.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
