Absentee balloting and streaming meetings: the current state at City Hall
There’s still time to request absentee ballots for the April election in La Crosse County.
The deadline for that request is April 2nd, but local election officials say you shouldn’t put it off.
If you want a paper ballot, you can request it by mail, or more quickly, on-line.
The deadline to register on-line for the April 7th election has been extended to March 30th.
Registration and voting also can be done at a municipal clerk’s office, such as the La Crosse city clerk office, by appointment.
Meanwhile, city leaders in La Crosse are making preparations for conducting regular city business during a period of social distancing.
On a typical Monday morning, La Crosse residents can be found at City Hall, asking the board of public works for assistance with snow shoveling, street repairs, or flooded basements.
But these are not typical times, and starting next week, some La Crosse city meetings will include live-streaming and public comments over the phone.
Next Monday, March 30th, the public works board is inviting comments on board business at a special phone number.
Board members are scheduled to review building orders for the La Crosse Center expansion project, and for acquiring right-of-way to property on South Avenue before that road is remodeled.
