MARQUETTE POLL: Evers vs. Trump handling of outbreak differs sharply between parties

A new poll surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak, and there is not much of a partisan divide — when it comes to matters of the state, anyway.

The newest Marquette University Law School poll shows some bipartsian support for matters of the state. Nationally, however, Wisconsinites seem as far apart as can be.

The poll was conducted March 24-29, 2020. The sample included 813 registered voters in Wisconsin interviewed by cell phone or landline, with a margin of error of +/- 4.2 percentage points.

When it comes to support of Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers’ handling of the coronavirus outbreak, there isn’t much of a divide among Democrats and Republicans.

With Donald Trump, however, those numbers change quite a bit over the president’s handling of the virus.

Concern, itself, over the virus in the U.S. hovers closer to the Trump numbers and the Evers ones.

As for the Democratic Presidential Primary, where Bernie Sanders was leading Joe Biden in the same poll in February, those numbers have completely flipped.

Now, Biden leads with 62 percent to Sanders’ 34. In February, Biden had just 15 percent to Sanders’ 29.

When it comes to other matters surrounding the virus, overall Evers’ decisions remain fairly favorable. Here is a look at those numbers, throwing out the politics.
