Rotary starts “Food Drive Fridays” because of COVID
The spread of the coronavirus has put additional strain on some families to keep food on the table.
Now, Rotary Clubs in the La Crosse area are helping collect food items for the local Hunger Task Force this spring.
Pat Stephens heads the Rotary Lights campaign at the holidays, and he says this new effort will make up for other food campaigns which have been called off for this year, including the annual mail carriers’ food collection in May.
For the next seven Fridays, volunteers will collect food items between 11 am and 1 pm at three area locations.
The donations will be accepted outside Barnes and Noble at Valley View Mall, the Big Lots parking lot on Mormon Coulee Road, and the parking lot behind the county courthouse.
