UW-L arts instructors hunt for face masks to send to hospitals

Some UW-La Crosse faculty members returned to one campus building on Friday, for the first time in about a month.

The university was shut down by the coronavirus around spring break time in March.

Theatre and art instructors went into the Center for the Arts to look for masks, gloves, and other items which could be used by hospitals to fight the virus.

Joe Anderson, chair of the UW-L theatre arts department, said he wanted to find protective gear that’s often used by students working on art projects, and by crews building sets and props for university plays.

Campus police were needed to let Anderson and another faculty member into the building, because in-person classes and arts performances have been shut down for the rest of the semester.
