Loggers owner hopes team can play this summer
Baseball remains on hold in America, because of coronavirus, and that includes minor-league clubs such as the La Crosse Loggers.
That team usually starts its season in June, and Loggers owner Dan Kapanke is still hoping to have some games played at Copeland Park this summer.
Kapanke tells WIZM’s La Crosse Talk that the college players who make up the Loggers roster would like to play Northwoods League games this summer, because the college seasons have been cancelled.
Many of today’s biggest baseball stars played ball at La Crosse’s Copeland Park before becoming big-leaguers.
All-Star pitchers Max Scherzer and Chris Sale both played for the Loggers while in college.
