The Riverfest La Crosse Board of Directors announced Thursday the 2020 event scheduled from July 1-4 is canceled.

“Our Board looked at many different scenarios and options to move forward with a version of Riverfest that would still be an exciting time for our community while remaining as safe as possible. Unfortunately, with the continued impacts of COVID-19 we were unable to come up with a way to continue forward with this event.”

The board said in review of Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers’ Badger Bounce Back Plan, the state would not be far enough along in COVID-19 recovery to host the event.

“This conclusion is not the one we were hoping for. We held on as long as possible before having to make this decision.”

The board is working with partners in the City of La Crosse and the Skyrockers to possibly still have a 4th of July Kwik Trip Fireworks Extravaganza. Meanwhile, plans continue to bring back the festival in 2021.
