The year 2020 could be a disaster for Wisconsin’s tourism industry, not to mention many other types of business, but a new report says Wisconsin showed growth in tourism for last year.

The figures compiled by “Tourism Economics” showed a total of $22.2 billion in statewide tourism revenue.

La Crosse County stayed in the top 10 Wisconsin counties for tourism spending, with its total increasing to $281 million, up $2 million from 2018.

Spending in Vernon and Trempealeau Counties increased by nearly 4 per cent, while tourism dropped in Jackson and Richland Counties.

State and local officials are planning strategies for encouraging travel once again, after the COVID-19 orders are lifted.
