Suspect in fatal parking lot fight in La Crosse waives pre-trial hearing
The La Crosse man accused of killing an older man in a parking lot argument has turned down the chance for an evidence hearing.
Matthew Kinstler waived his right to a preliminary hearing Friday, in an on-line appearance before La Crosse County Judge Elliott Levine.
La Crosse Police say Kinstler accused 79-year-old Russell Paulson of striking his car in a Menards parking lot on May 1st.
Witnesses claim Kinstler used Paulson’s own walking stick to hit him in the head, and Paulson died in the hospital three days later.
Kinstler is charged with reckless homicide, and argues self-defense, claiming Paulson was the aggressor in the confrontation.
