A La Crosse man suspected of killing a local teenager six months ago may need a new attorney.

Shavonte Thompson has a court hearing Thursday, on whether he’ll be granted a different lawyer.

Thompson was arrested in Illinois last November for the shooting death of 18-year-old Javier Hall near Copeland Park.

It took until February for the public defender’s office to find an attorney for Thompson, because of conflicts of interest.

He has a pre-trial evidence hearing on the 1st degree murder charge next month.

Another murder suspect in the county also has a hearing on Thursday.

Matthew Kinstler is asking for a change in his $100,000 bond.

Kinstler is jailed for allegedly killing a 79-year-old man with his own cane during a fight this month in the Menards parking lot on Lang Drive.
