A yearly tradition in La Crosse which is nearly a century old was not going to be stopped by a virus in 2020.

The La Crosse Central Robed Choir sang during a pre-recorded virtual Memorial Day ceremony this year.

This was the 98th year of Central’s holiday observance, which usually happens outside the school along Losey Boulevard on the Friday before Memorial Day.

The usual Memorial Day program at La Crosse’s Riverside Park was cancelled for this year, and planners recorded a special video which was broadcast on Monday.

The pre-recorded ceremony included a 21-gun salute conducted at La Crosse’s Oak Grove Cemetery.
