Trempealeau County Fair cancels 2020 event

Another local fair was added to the growing list of events being cancelled because of COVID-19 in 2021.

The Trempealeau County Agricultural Society voted to cancel this year’s fair which was scheduled for July 16-19. Other activities at the county fairground in Galesville were also canceled through Aug. 31.

“The Trempealeau County Agricultural Society Board of Directors (Trempealeau County Fair Board) assessed the risk to our exhibitors, their families, our volunteers and public and determined that we are unable to host the 2020 Trempealeau County Fair,” the fair’s organizers said today in a statement posted on social media. “Our exhibitors and fair traditions are very important to us, but nothing is more important than the health and safety of every patron that joins us at the Trempealeau County Fair.”

As part of its decision, the board also ruled that any youth exhibitor who is aging out of participation this year and is enrolled in a 2020 project will be eligible to participate in the 2021 Trempealeau County Fair within the same project area. That exception is only made for the 2021 Trempealeau County Fair, with the organizers more information will be released as plans are completed.
