The war between Donald Trump and Twitter looks like it will be escalated after a late-night tweet from the president over the Minneapolis riots.

The second of a two-tweet thread from Trump was hidden by twitter and met with a disclaimer that reads: “This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules about glorifying violence. However, Twitter has determined that it may be in the public’s interest for the Tweet to remain accessible.”

The tweets are in reference to the protests over the Minneapolis police officer that killed George Floyd.

The visible tweet reads:

I can’t stand back & watch this happen to a great American City, Minneapolis. A total lack of leadership. Either the very weak Radical Left Mayor, Jacob Frey, get his act together and bring the City under control, or I will send in the National Guard & get the job done right…..

After clicking “VIEW,” the second tweet reads:

….These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen. Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!

Thug: a cruel or vicious ruffian, robber, or murderer. (source: dictionary.com)

What exactly is incorrect about calling these looters “thugs”? They fit the definition. Or, are you implying some sort of racial slur? That in itself would be incredibly racist.
