Former La Crosse State Senator Jennifer Shilling is now an employee of Dairyland Power Cooperative.

Shilling began work Monday as government relations manager for the utility company based in La Crosse.

In May, she resigned as 32nd District Senator, after announcing weeks earlier that she would not run again for the Senate this fall, and would step down as Senate Minority Leader.

“I am happy to join Dairyland and bring my experience on energy and utility issues to the members and service area of the region,” said Shilling in a release from Dairyland. “It is an exciting time in the energy industry and I look forward to developing strategies that reflect Dairyland’s commitment to communities now and into the future. I have enjoyed my experience serving western Wisconsin in the State Senate. Through this new opportunity, I can continue to serve residents and rural communities in the essential service of delivering electricity to businesses, homes, schools and healthcare facilities.”

Shilling had served in the Wisconsin Legislature for 20 years, the last nine as Senator from the 32nd District.

At Dairyland Power, Shilling will be working with another former State Senator–Brian Rude, who has been on the Dairyland staff for 20 years.
