How will future generations remember the pandemic of 2020?

Works of art may help preserve the history of the deadly outbreak, and the city of La Crosse may help in that effort.

Dillon McArdle of the city arts board is seeking $15,000 to commission local residents to capture this time through art.

McArdle says he wants to ‘go big’ with the project, hoping to obtain funding for up to 30 art works.

Meanwhile, city funding for the arts is scarce already, since the arts board budget for this year is among spending cuts just made by the La Crosse city council.

On Friday, the arts board chose Jennifer Williams as its new chair, succeeding Doug Weidenbach, who had been the county board representative on the committee.

Weidenbach was not re-elected to the county board this spring, and Randy Erickson has been appointed as the new county member on the arts board.
