Record number of COVID-19 cases in La Crosse County, new cases 11 days in row
A new record for COVID-19 cases in a day reported in La Crosse County on Tuesday.
Seven new cases were reported by the county health department. Two of La Crosse County’s 83 cases are now hospitalized.
La Crosse County has had multiple cases eight consecutive days — 27 in all. The county has had at least one case 11 consecutive days — 30 total — and new cases 13 of the past 14 days.
At one point in April, La Crosse had gone 13 days without a new cases. The most days with at least a case before this stretch was four (March 24-27). The county has had three days in a row with cases three other times.
One of the seven reported Tuesday was an asymptomatic case. Two have connections to previous cases. The youngest case was in their 20s. The oldest in their 80s.
Also reporting new cases in the area were both Trempealeau and Houston counties.
Trempealeau is now up to 47 cases, after two more Tuesday. The county had had multiple cases three consecutive days (eight total) and had 16 cases total in five of the past six days.
Houston County is up to five cases now, after reporting a case in back-to-back days for the first time ever.
Winona remains at 85 cases and 15 deaths, Vernon at 22 cases, Buffalo at six cases, two deaths, and Allamakee at 120 cases.

Wisconsin: 21,308 cases, 661 deaths
Minnesota: 28,523 cases, 1,217 deaths
Iowa: 22,430 case, 629 deaths
Statewide, after reporting negative-1 deaths on Monday, the state saw that number rise to 15 on Tuesday. Sunday, the state total was 647 total deaths. Monday that number decreased to 646.
The state also confirmed another 270 new cases of the virus.
In Minnesota, after 11 deaths were reported Monday, the state confirmed 20 more Tuesday, along with 307 new cases — the lowest number of cases in eight days.
After Iowa had three consecutive days where the death toll was in single digits, the state reported 16 deaths in a 24-hour period starting at 10 a.m. Monday. There were also 260 more cases over that span. Iowa’s health department doesn’t report daily cases or deaths. The site updates in real time.
Worldwide, the U.S. has 27.4 percent of the over 7.2 million cases and 27.3 percent of the more than 411,320 deaths from the virus, according to John Hopkins data. Here’s a look at the countries with the most cases, deaths around the globe:
