Positive COVID-19 test shuts down offsite program through La Crosse Area YMCA

Due to a positive COVID-19 tests, the La Crosse Area YMCA has shut down its school age sites as of 6 p.m. Wednesday.

A statement by the Y, in part said, “We have a situation with positive COVID-19 cases in relation to our summer school age childcare staff team.”

The programs were run offsite, so the YMCA’s Houser Early Childhood Care Center and both the La Crosse and Onalaska branches will remain open.

The Y did also say that “there is not a known risk to children at any of our summer school age sites, but we cannot say there is zero risk.”

The Y said it will continue to work with the La Crosse County Health Department on further actions, and will continue to update the public as information becomes available.

La Crosse Area YMCA CEO Bill Soper did not return messages on the matter.
