La Crosse County reports multiple COVID-19 cases for 12th consecutive day, after six more Saturday

It’s now been 15 consecutive days that La Crosse County has reported a case of COVID-19, after six new cases were reported Saturday.

The county is now at 115 total, and has reported multiple cases 12 consecutive days. The six Saturday were the fourth most since the pandemic, and fourth most in the past five days.

The county has had 39 cases over that span, and 60 cases in June alone.

Since the pandemic began, there were 19 cases reported the 11 days to end March. In April, the county reported 10 total cases ⁠— never more than two in a single day, which happened just once ⁠— and went 13 consecutive days without a case. In May, 26 cases were reported, which included back-to-back days with five and four cases, respectively (March 13-14).

Of Saturday’s six new cases, five of them are people in their 20s, while the other is a teenager. In the past two days, there have been 14 cases and all but that one teenager have been people in their 20s.

Sixty-two of the 115 total cases are considered recovered. Three are still in the hospital.

As for the surrounding counties, Trempealeau is up to 61 total, having reported multiple cases for seven consecutive days. The county reported five cases late Friday and another two Saturday. Twenty-nine of the 61 are considered recovered.

Vernon County reported one positive case Saturday and is now at 24 total, with 21 considered recovered and one hospitalized.

Buffalo (six cases, two deaths), Winona (84 cases, 15 deaths) and Houston (five cases, zero deaths) counties reported no new cases Saturday.

Wisconsin reported another 272 cases, two deaths. That’s the second consecutive day with single-digit deaths (seven Friday), after three days before that were in the double digits (36 total)

Minnesota reported another 394 cases and nine deaths Saturday. It’s the first single-digit death total since May 18 in the state. Minnesota has had single-digit deaths just three times throughout May and June.

Iowa reported another 385 cases and nine deaths in a 24-hour period that began at 10 a.m. Friday.

Worldwide, there are now 7.9 million cases and over 430,139 deaths from the virus, according to John Hopkins data. The U.S. has 26 percent of all cases and 27 percent of the deaths. Here’s a look at the countries with the most cases, deaths:
