La Crosse’s city planner steps down after 5 years
La Crosse’s chief city planner has resigned.
Jason Gilman stepped down as director of the planning department Monday, after leading the planning office for five years.
In a news release, Gilman cites the need to help his family through ‘current public health challenges,’ and he also says the move could help the city meet ‘projected budget challenges.’
He’s scheduled to become president of a statewide planning association in 2022.
Mayor Tim Kabat, who also used to work in the planning department, praises Gilman for his work on transportation issues, affordable housing, and revitalizing downtown La Crosse.
