La Crosse Airport sees slight rise in travel during May

To say that airport usage in La Crosse doubled last month, compared to April, is mildly encouraging during a pandemic.

Only 372 passengers flew through La Crosse in April.

The number rose to 821 in May, but that still represents a 91 per cent drop from May of last year.

Ironically, before the coronavirus led to shutdowns, the La Crosse Airport had its highest passenger numbers in at least 5 years, with nearly 15,000 passengers during the first two months of 2020.

Revenues from parking, airport shops, and car rental companies are all drastically down from the same time a year ago.

Overall, the total number of passengers for the year at LSE is down 79 per cent, with just under 20,000 emplanements.
