A major surge in COVID-19 cases this month has lifted La Crosse above surrounding communities as a hot spot for the virus.

With close to 300 cases, La Crosse County is the only Wisconsin county west of Madison that has more than 200 total cases of COVID infection.

Bridget Pfaff, infection specialist at Gundersen in La Crosse, warns that the virus might force us to change our lifestyle habits for another 18 months to two years.

Pfaff says a second wave of coronavirus has not begun, because the first wave isn’t finished yet, even after many businesses were opened up last month.
