Citizen group, protesting at La Crosse’s Riverside Park, wants more stimulus money from DC
More economic relief from the effects of the COVID pandemic is being requested in Wisconsin.
The group Citizen Action of Wisconsin calls on Washington to extend the stimulus check program beyond the end of July.
At La Crosse’s Riverside Park on Tuesday, Robert Kraig from Citizen Action said the White House should not expect the states to bear the economic burden of such an emergency.
Kraig supports a bill by U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin to create a special program to put people to work during the pandemic.
Many La Crosse area employers have been shut down and their workers left without pay, as a result of COVID-19 restrictions.
Lauren Journot, the executive director of the La Crosse YWCA, said her employees can’t afford to go very long without a paycheck.
