Covid-19 daily count above 20 again in La Crosse County

Back above 20. After four consecutive days under 20 cases of COVID-19, La Crosse County’s health department reported 21 more today.

That brings the total to 465, with half of those still active and the other have considered recovered.

Most of today’s cases are in their 20s, with another five teenagers.

Dating back to June 1, the county has had 413 cases. In May, there were 26 total.

Still two people known to be hospitalized. Nobody from the county has died from the virus.

In surrounding counties, Trempealeau added five cases and is now at 123 total. Vernon reported two cases Wednesday, and is at 37 total. Winona reported none and remains at 119. Buffalo added one and is now at eight total.

Statewide, Wisconsin reported another 540 cases, 36 hospitalizations and two deaths from the virus.

The state has had single-digit deaths 10 of the past 11 days. The 540 cases is the fourth most in a single day. Yesterday’s 601 cases was the second most.

Minnesota reported another 426 cases and four deaths. The state has had single-digit deaths in nine of the past 11 days.

Iowa shows 349 new cases and five deaths in a 24-hour period that began at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Iowa’s health department doesn’t post daily stats and updates its site in real time.

Worldwide, the U.S. has 25 percent of all cases (10.7 million) and deaths (516,210), according to John Hopkins data. Here’s a look at the countries with the most in each category:
