The interim fire chief appointed in Onalaska a few weeks ago now has the job full-time.

Troy Gudie officially became chief of the Onalaska Fire Department on Wednesday.

In late April, the city police and fire commission promoted Gudie from assistant chief to interim chief, after the resignation of Chief Billy Hayes.

Gudie has been a firefighter in Onalaska since 1989.
