North La Crosse family given more time to keep pumping basement

Even in the summertime, some folks in La Crosse are still having trouble with flooded basements.

One household on Liberty Street will be allowed another 60 days to pump water from the basement into the street.

The city board of public works was asked to let the pumping continue until a ‘permanent solution’ could be found.

The city inspection department is working with that north-side family, on the possibility of filling the basement to stop the flooding.

The pumping has been off-and-on at that Liberty Street home since last year’s high water.

City council member Barb Janssen says the family is still talking with city staffers about a remedy, possibly for filling the basement with concrete.
