A La Crosse man pleads ‘no contest’ to an armed robbery charge from early 2019, a month after his brother reached a plea in the same case.

Timothy Ellis Junior is expected to get probation when he’s sentenced in September.

Timothy and his brother, Justin Ellis, were arrested for robbing Sean Moore at gunpoint on a north La Crosse street in January of last year.

Timothy also is suspected of firing a bullet into the victim’s car.

In exchange for Ellis’s plea on the robbery charge, other charges were dismissed.

Timothy’s $25,000 cash bond has been reduced to a signature bond, because prosecutors believe Justin was more responsible for the robbery.

Justin was sentenced in June to two years in prison for the holdup.

Timothy Ellis apologized in court on Wednesday, and he also asked to be released because another brother of his was shot to death last week in Milwaukee, and he wants to attend the funeral.
