Labor Day celebration cancelled in La Crosse

Published

For the first time in half-a-century, La Crosse will not have a Labor Day parade this September.

The reason, as you might expect, is the coronavirus.

The Western Wisconsin AFL-CIO has decided to cancel its annual north La Crosse parade and labor festival at Copeland Park, scheduled for September 7th.

Union members are hoping to arrange a virtual celebration of the holiday.

The parade has only been cancelled one other time in the last 90 years, in 1965.

A great initiative to avoid the spread of COVID-19. I really appreciate it.
