Body of fisherman found in Root River, near Preston, Minn.

The body of a missing fisherman has been found in the Root River near Peterson, Minn.

The sheriff’s office received a call Tuesday night that the missing man had gone fishing in an inflatable raft that day and didn’t return home. 

The Minnesota DNR found the body in the water at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, a short distance downstream from where the empty raft was discovered. 

Authorities are not releasing the man’s name yet, but they say he was from Fillmore County.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
