“Check the Spread” campaign helps businesses be healthy

Many recent TV commercials for local businesses have made a point to show their workers wearing face masks, and cleaning their stores because of the coronavirus. 

Businesses in the La Crosse area have been urged to follow a six-step cleanliness program as a way to keep customers and workers healthy. 

The campaign is called ‘Check the Spread.’    

La Crosse County development specialist Brian Fukuda says having businesses promise to follow healthy practices could keep customers coming in.  

“Is that gonna 100 per cent guarantee that people aren’t gonna get infected?” said Fukuda. “No, but…it is helping to slow it, and it is…helping to protect people.”

Companies agreeing to take part in the program will be included on a list of businesses available to customers.  

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
