Under double-digits, that seems to be the new goal for La Crosse County when it comes to COVID-19.

La Crosse County Health Department director Jen Rombalski was a little relieved the new case count Wednesday was just nine and “not a new record.”

There was, however, one more hospitalization in the county, which is now up to five, but Rombalski said none were believed to be in the ICU.

Since reporting, there has now been 620 cases in La Crosse County — 493 of those in the past month. Of that 620, 169 are still active.

In surrounding counties, Trempealeau added a single-day high 21 cases yesterday — 15 of those from Monday’s National Guard testing site. The county is up to 188 total, with 68 active.

Winona added three cases and is now at 156 total. Buffalo County added five new cases and is now at 21 with eight still active. Houston reports no cases and remains at 32.
