Kind and Buttigieg talk trade and elections

Vice President Mike Pence is coming to Onalaska Friday to lead a discussion on a new trade agreement between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. 

But La Crosse’s Democratic Congressman says his own party put in ‘hard work’ to make USMCA a better agreement. 

Congressman Ron Kind supported the trade pact on Thursday, during a roundtable on clean energy sponsored by the Joe Biden presidential campaign. 

Kind and former presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg talked with farmers and small business owners from Wisconsin about ways that businesses can succeed while also using clean energy sources.

Buttigieg and the other major Democratic candidates skipped La Crosse before the Wisconsin primary in April, and Biden pretty much had the nomination locked up by then.

But the South Bend, Indiana mayor says 2020 will be a “once in a lifetime” election year.

“There’s no question that if the election were held today, it would be a landslide in favor of Vice President Biden, but we also note a lot can happen in a few months,” said Buttigied.

The Trump campaign is eager to win Wisconsin again, as it did in 2016.
