Airline travel through La Crosse is starting to pick up again, but it’s nowhere close to normal levels because of the pandemic.

About 1,400 people took flights in or out of La Crosse in June.  That compares to 821 passengers in May, and 8,935 in June of last year.

For the first six months of 2020, the La Crosse airport has seen 21,000 airline passengers, down 78 percent from the total for 2019.

In a normal year, the airport might reach the 21,000 mark by the end of March.

The best month so far in 2020 has been January, with 7,604 passengers, a five-year high for that month.

In 2019, the best month was August, with 10,078 passengers going through the local airport.
