La Crosse adds eight COVID-19 cases, as new online tool goes live

Eight new cases of COVID-19 in La Crosse County today, according to state data.

The county total is now 1,016.

The county’s Health Department stopped reporting daily case numbers last week, instead going to a weekly assessment, which is posted on Mondays.

The county did, however, launch a new website that shows the case rate over the past week, which is currently at 7.6 per 100,000.

The new site shows the area in yellow — as opposed to green or red — but does say the rate is decreasing. It can be viewed at CouleeCOVID19.org.

In surrounding counties, Winona added eight cases (294 total), Trempealeau reported three cases (394). Monroe added four (262), Buffalo one (51), Houston 2 (65).

Statewide, Wisconsin reported another 826 cases, 36 hospitalizations and one death from the virus.

Minnesota reports another 835 cases, 45 hospitalizations and eight deaths.

Iowa added 823 cases and five deaths.
