Kruk reaches plea agreement in shooting of La Crosse policeman
Just over a year after shooting at a policeman and being shot in return, a La Crosse man is convicted of attempted murder in the case.
Allen Kruk entered a ‘no contest’ plea on Tuesday before Judge Ramona Gonzalez, admitting that he did try to kill La Crosse Officer Dustin Darling during a confrontation at the house of Kruk’s ex-wife’s in August of last year.
Darling was not injured, because he was wearing a protective vest.
Kruk spent time in the hospital after being shot by the officer.
Other charges against Kruk in La Crosse and Monroe Counties were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
The D-A’s office plans to seek a 15-year prison term when Kruk is sentenced at a later date.
The maximum Kruk could get in the case is 65 years behind bars.
