The Wisconsin Counties Association (WCA) recognized 95th Assembly District Rep. Jill Billings (D-La Crosse) as this session’s Outstanding Legislator.

Dan Bahr, Government Affairs Association with WCA presented the award to Billings in Riverside Park Monday.

“I really appreciate this award because I got my start on the county board, and so to have that acknowledgment of the work I’m doing in the State Assembly is an honor to receive,” Billings said.

The award was credited to her work with water concerns and making sure the DNR notified private well owners about potential issues. Other projects including helping taxpayers receive money back from landfill tipping fees for the Xcel Energy power plant, and payouts from lawsuits filed to battle the heroin and opioid epidemic.

“For me, you can’t go wrong if you listen to the people you represent,” Billings said.

She noted her work with tipping fees and water was pushed forward after hearing concerns from her constituents.
