La Crosse County suffers second COVID-19 death, adds six new cases Wed.
For the second time in less than two months, La Crosse County has suffered a second death due to COVID-19.
The health department said the death was a man in his 70s who was hospitalized. The first county resident to die from the virus back on July 17, was also a man in his 70s who was hospitlaized.
Case data Wednesday from the state showed six more cases of COVID-19 in La Crosse County, bringing its total to 1,208.
The county has averaged 16.9 cases a day dating back to Aug. 19.

In surrounding counties, Winona continues a surge, with 22 more cases. The county has averaged 26.4 cases the past week and now has 507 total.
No other area county reported more than the five from Trempealeau (426 total). Monroe added two (288), Vernon three (103), Buffalo two (69) and Houston three (80).

Wisconsin: 77,129 cases, 5,916 hospitalizations, 1,142 deaths
Minnesota: 77,085 cases, 6,566 hospitalizations, 1,830 deaths
Iowa: 66,463 cases, 1,125 deaths
Statewide, Wisconsin reported another 545 cases, 38 hospitalizations and 12 deaths. It’s the first time in double-digits in a week.
Minnesota added 761 cases, 46 hospitalizations and suffered seven deaths.
It’s been exactly a week since Iowa data showed 2,621 cases in a day. It came in the midst of four days over a thosand cases. Since, the state’s cases haven’t been over 800, including 616 on Wednesday, along with nine deaths.
