One UW-L dorm gets “shelter in place” order, as university reports 64 cases Thursday
Fall classes have only been in session for three days and one residence hall at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse has been ordered to ‘shelter in place’ because of an increase in COVID-19 cases.
A surge in positive test results for the virus apparently is connected to Coate Hall, the dorm closest to West Avenue at the northwest corner of campus.
The Residence Life office on campus will determine whether other steps need to be taken by students at Coate or other buildings.
UW-L has launched a COVID-19 dashboard, which shows 64 cases on Thursday and 97 cases in the past three days out of 584 tests.
It also states that of the college’s 130 quarantine areas, 61 are already being used.
The dashboard will be updated through 4:30 p.m. that day.
