La Crosse over 200 COVID-19 cases Friday, Wisconsin breaks Thursday’s single-day record by 500 cases

A single-day record 254 cases more confirmed COVID-19 Friday in La Crosse County, according to state data.

The county now has a total of 2,375 cases.

La Crosse jumped from 104 to averaging 127 cases per day the past week.

UW-La Crosse data shows 285 positive tests on campus — 239 of those, antigen tests. Those people will be referred to get PCR tests, which are more accurate.

Statewide, for the second-consecutive day, Wisconsin set a record with over 2,000 cases. Friday, it’s 2,533. Thursday’s old record was 2,034.

There were also 47 more hospitalizations and seven deaths reported in the state.

In Winona County, 100 new cases, but the reasoning is a backlog of tests all came through at once. The vast majority of cases are all more than two weeks old, officials said.

Minnesota reported 1,099 new cases Friday, along with eight deaths.
