The ideas for streamlining the management of the La Crosse Center now include a deputy director for the building.

A month ago, the mayor’s office was suggesting that director Art Fahey’s job be eliminated, if Fahey was planning to retire soon.

Art says he’s not ready to step down, and he thinks having a deputy might be a good idea.

Fahey says an alternate plan for three co-managers of the building might cause problems for decision-making.

The center now has just six people on staff, while a renovation is being completed.

The La Crosse Center Board did not vote on the plan, but wants Mayor Tim Kabat to know they’re making progress on re-organization.

The Center has finally settled on a new advertising slogan: “Experience the Magnificent.”

The tagline was arrived at after several suggestions were made, such as “Meet on the Mississippi.”

Center leaders have worked with Vendi Advertising to create new branding to replace the original logo, which has been used since the building opened 40 years ago.
