La Crosse man gets prison for wielding hot potato masher
A La Crosse man is headed to prison for allegedly attacking another man with a baseball bat and a potato masher.
Nathan Kohls pled guilty on Wednesday to aggravated battery, and was sentenced to 3 years in prison.
Other charges against Kohls were dismissed.
The battery happened almost four years ago, in December of 2016, at a house on 5th Avenue South.
Kohls reportedly struck the victim in the head with the bat, forced the man’s hand onto a hot burner on a stove, and stabbed the hand.
After that, Kohls allegedly tried to stop the victim’s bleeding by pressing on the injured hand with a heated potato masher.
The fight apparently stemmed from a dispute over the victim’s girlfriend.
Kohls will get credit for about six months spent in the county jail, following his arrest.
