A second death Friday has shown up on the dashboard for deaths in La Crosse County due to COVID-19.

It’s the fifth death in the past five days of a county resident and eighth in the past two weeks. It’s the 10th person overall that has died from the virus in La Crosse County.

No other information was provided on the Coulee COVID-19 Collaborative dashboard.

Hospitalizations of county residents went up by at least two, as well, to 100 total. That state on the collaborative page was 97 on Thursday. The site does not indicate “newly” hospitalized patients however.

Cases jumped by 45 in the county, according to state data, to a total of 3,486. The seven day average is now 34. At its peek on Sept. 18 it was 127.

Statewide, Wisconsin added 2,988 cases, 138 hospitalizations — both the second-most ever in a day in the state — and 16 deaths.

The state has had four of its five highest hospitalizations in a day the past four days.
