La Crosse County adds 30 cases, as state remains at near-record highs for cases, hospitalizations

The 10th COVID-19 death that showed up on the collaborative dashboard Friday is now gone.

Friday, the site had shown a ninth death, then later a 10th. But, at some point, that number was back down to nine on the Coulee COVID-19 Collaborative dashboard.

So, Oct. 5-9, there were four COVID-19 deaths of La Crosse County residents, and eight in the past two weeks.

Saturday, the state reported 30 more cases of COVID-19 in La Crosse County, bringing the total to 3,516.

Statewide, Wisconsin added another 2,742 cases, bringing the average over the past seven days to 2,395.

The state also added another 120 hospitalizations — the third-most in a single day in the state. The state had had the highest new hospitalizations in five of the past six days.

According to DHS, there were 876 COVID-19 patients hospitalized as of Friday.

The state has seen 5.6 percent of all positive cases hospitalized.

Wisconsin also added 18 more COVID-19 deaths. In the past five days, 77 Wisconsin residents have died of COVID-19.

In Minnesota, another 1,537 cases, 51 hospitalizations and 10 deaths.

Iowa data showed another 1,315 cases, 21 deaths over a 24-hour period through 10 a.m. Saturday.
