Wisconsin sets single-day highs in cases, hospitalizations and deaths; La Crosse adds 21 cases, up two hospitalizations
While the state set new single-day highs for cases, hospitalizations and deaths, COVID-19 slowing a little in La Crosse County.
La Crosse added 21 cases Tuesday bringing it to 3,587 total. Hospitalizations of county residents went up two from Monday to 105 total. The average cases a day the past week is now at 30, its lowest since Sept. 8.
Meanwhile, in other counties:
Vernon: 12 new cases (383 total – 100 active – 4 hospitalized)
Trempealeau: 7 new cases (806 total – 138 active – 1 hospitalized)
Monroe: 17 new cases (814 total – 156 active – 1 hospitalized)
Winona: 7 cases (1,081 total – no other data available)
Houston: 1 new case (164 total – 10 active – 0 hospitalized)
STATE TOTALS
Wisconsin: 155,471 cases, 8,601 hospitalizations, 1,508 deaths
Minnesota: 114,574 cases, 8,500 hospitalizations, 2,151 deaths
Iowa: 101,531 cases, 1,491 deaths
Statewide, Wisconsin added 3,279 cases, 147 hospitalizations and 34 deaths — all single-day highs.
It’s the second time in six days with over 3,000 cases. The state is averaging 2,727 cases a day the past week.
It’s also the second time in a week with over 140 hospitalizations, averaging 113 a day the past week.
And, it’s the first time with over 30 deaths in a day. The previous single-day high deaths was 27 on Sept. 30.
The state has only had 20 or more deaths in a day five times — three of those have come in the past two weeks. The other two happened May 27 and May 30.
Minnesota added 1,150 cases, 79 hospitalizations and seven deaths. The state is averaging 1,272 cases, 69 hospitalizations, nine deaths a day the past week.
Iowa added 1,080 cases, 10 deaths and 72 have been admitted into the hospital in the past 24 hours ending Tuesday.
