“War of the Worlds” recreated by UW-L theatre
Most live theatre around the area has been shut down because of COVID-19, but the theatre department at UW-L has managed to put together a show to celebrate Halloween.
The play is recorded, and is being livestreamed for this weekend and next through the university webpage.
Director Greg Parmeter says ‘The Panic Broadcast’ portrays a fictional 1940’s revival of the classic Orson Welles ‘War of the Worlds’ radio show from 1938.
It’s not a live stage production, because of COVID-19 restrictions, but it has been filmed for livestreaming.
Tickets for the livestream showings are priced between $6 and $18 dollars.
Streaming showings will be this weekend through Sunday, and again from October 29th through November 1st, with a link at www.uwlax.edu/theatre-arts.
