The Wisconsin State Patrol arrested a suspect accused of threatening Amtrak train employees with a knife Saturday night.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s office was alerted about a male on the train causing a disturbance around 6:46 p.m. Saturday. The suspect, Timothy Thomas, was supposedly brandishing a knife at Amtrak staff and tried to force entry into a secured portion of the train.

Staff stopped the train east of Oakdale. Thomas left the train on his own. The Wisconsin State Patrol found him walking westbound on Hwy. 12 and arrested him. Thomas was booked into the Monroe County Jail.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Canadian Pacific Police Service, and Amtrak Police are investigating the incident.
