Restaurant pickup zones extended to April
The city of La Crosse will help downtown bars and restaurants continue special carryout business, while the pandemic remains in effect.
The board of public works votes to allow 15-minute curbside pickup zones to operate through April 1st.
That vote comes as city leaders are also considering extending permits for curbside dining into March, to avoid large crowds inside downtown businesses.
But there might be some changes in where those pickup spots are located.
Board member Gary Padesky says one business owner has heard complaints about long lines for deliveries blocking certain locations downtown.
City police may allow restaurant owners to be exempted from having pickup spaces in front of their buildings.
