La Crosse adds 185 COVID cases, four more residents hospitalized, as WI, MN again set records

Another 185 COVID-19 cases in La Crosse County today. The county is is now averaging 140 cases per day the past week.

County residents hospitalized increased by four over the past 24 hours to 178 total. There have been 18 residents hospitalized in the past week.

The positivity rate for those tested is 33.7%, according to the Coulee COVID-19 Collaborative dashboard.


In surrounding counties, both Vernon and Trempealeau suffered deaths from the virus. It was the fourth death in 11 days for Trempealeau, which has nine total. The county also currently has 16 hospitalized with the virus. For Vernon, it was the fifth death — second in the past four days.

VERNON: 52 new cases past two days (22.4 cases/day past week – 772 total – 235 active, 11 hospitalized)
JACKSON: 59 new cases (40.9 cases/day past week – 1,097 total, 366 active – 12 hospitalized)
TREMPEALEAU: 51 new cases (48.1 cases/day past week – 1,626 total, 556 active – 16 hospitalized)
MONROE: 51 new cases (45.4 cases/day past week – 1,816 total – 438 active – 5 hospitalized)
WINONA: record 71 new cases (46.7 cases/day past week – 1,881 total)
HOUSOTON: 19 new cases (16 cases/day past week – 412 total)

Minnesota: 201,795 cases, 12,443 hospitalizations, 2,793 deaths

Statewide, another daily record for cases with 7,497. There were also near records with 264 more hospitalized and 58 deaths.

Wisconsin is now averaging 6,209 cases and 209 hospitalizations a day the past week. There have been 186 deaths the past three days.

Wisconsin hospitals are at 89% capacity, with 1,170 of 11,103 beds immediately available. There are 2,077 COVID-19 patients statewide — 601 on ventilators and 424 in the ICU.

Minnesota blew away its single-day record for cases with 7,228 and hospitalizations at 292. The state’s previous case high was 5,454 one week ago. The state also reported another 39 die from the virus.

Minnesota has 1,329 COVID-19 patients — 278 in the ICU.

Iowa added 4,947 cases, 213 hospitalizations and 18 deaths. The state currently has a record 1,227 hospitalized with the virus — 240 in the ICU.
