Two more COVID deaths of La Crosse residents

Two more deaths of La Crosse County residents this weekend from COVID-19.

It’s the seventh death in 14 days of a county resident and 30th overall — 25th since Oct. 1.

Sunday, the county added 59 cases, bringing the total to 6,285, according to the state. Three of those cases were aged 10-19. one was aged 0-9.

The county is averaging 116.6 cases a day the past week with a positivity rate at 28.33% over that time.

Meanwhile, Winona County added 69 cases Sunday — the third-most ever — and is now averaging 52.3 cases per day the past week.

Houston County added 26 cases — tied for the most ever — and is averaging 20.1 the past week.

Statewide, Wisconsin added 6,058 cases, 155 hospitalizations and 12 deaths. The state’s hospitals are at 86% capacity with 1,524 of 11,117 bed immediately available.

There are 2,097 currently hospitalized with COVID-19 — 586 on ventilators, 446 in the ICU.

Minnesota numbers continued to soar, with record-breaking testing. Minnesota added 7,559 cases — the second-most to Saturday’s 8,703 — 159 hospitalizations and 31 deaths.

The hospitalizations were its lowest in the past week. The state had over 200 each day the past week, heading into Sunday.

Iowa added 2,763 cases, four deaths and a single-day high 243 more hospitalized The state has a record 1,392 currently hospitalized, including 271 in the ICU with COVID-19 — the most ever in both categories.
