10 COVID-19 deaths in La Crosse and surrounding counties over weekend

Multiple COVID-19 deaths were reported Monday in La Crosse and surrounding counties.

After La Crosse County had two deaths over the weekend, according to the state, bringing the total to 30, the Coulee COVID-19 Collaborative dashboard showed a total of 32 deaths on Monday.

That brings the county total to 32 — the 27th death since Oct. 1. All 32 deaths are people aged 60 and over.

The county also added another 162 cases and three more residents were hospitalized over the weekend.

In surrounding counties, there were two more COVID-19 deaths in Vernon reported Monday — the fourth deaths in the past eight days, and seventh total in the county.

Jackson reported three deaths Monday, bringing its total to five.

Trempealeau County reported its 10th overall death Monday. It’s the fifth death this month of a county resident from COVID-19.

Back to La Crosse, the county’s positivity rate for those tested is 29.4%, according to the dashboard.

JACKSON: 107 new cases since Friday (47.9/day past week – 1,277 total – 362 active – 19 hospitalized)
TREMPEALEAU: 159 new cases since Friday (55.6/day past week – 1,827 total – 668 active – 15 hospitalized)
MONROE: 128 new cases since Friday (60.6/day past week – 2,060 total – 505 active – 10 hospitalized)
HOUSTON: 71 new cases since Friday (21.9/day past week – 511 total – 94 active – 7 hospitalized)
WINONA: 175 new cases since Friday (56.4/day past week – 2,055 total)

Statewide, Wisconsin added 4,389 cases, 118 hospitalizations and 12 deaths.

As of Monday, 1 in 4 people were active cases at risk of spreading the virus, according to the state.

The 7-day average of new confirmed cases has increased 380% in two months, and more than doubled in one month — up 111%.

Wisconsin has 1,422 of 11,111 immediate beds available in hospitals statewide. There are currently 2,278 COVID-19 patients — 611 on ventilators and 456 in the ICU.

Minnesota added 7,444 cases — the third-most ever in the state — along with 177 hospitalizations and 12 deaths.

The state has 1,558 currently hospitalized with COVID-19 and 324 in the ICU — both all-time highs.

Iowa added 3,280 cases, 215 hospitalizations and a single-day high 34 deaths.

The state has 1,510 currently hospitalized, including 288 in the ICU — also both all-time highs.
