State Rep. Doyle in quarantine with COVID-19

Wisconsin state Rep. Steve Doyle hasn’t gotten a chance to see the COVID-19 package proposed by Gov. Tony Evers yet.

That’s because Doyle’s locked in his basement, in quarantine with COVID-19 himself.

Doyle, 62, said Tuesday he doesn’t feel too bad, and expects to catch up on what was proposed soon. He’s been in quarantine about a week, so one more week to go.

Doyle, a Democrat, represents the 94th District in the state Assembly.

It’s been over seven months since Republicans, who control the state legislature, have passed any bills. The last was a COVID-19 relief, back in mid-April.

The proposal released by Evers on Tuesday came as Assembly Speaker Robin Vos held a news conference with “new legislative initiatives.” Vos, however, had no specific proposals and didn’t respond to a request Monday by Evers to work on COVID-19 legislation.
